How long after thoracic disc surgery(t8-9)and 18 month+ pinched nerve damage can you return to work?
Jan 18
going on 18 months with 2 herniated discs and 2 pinched nerves in the thoracic area causing severe nausious and groin and leg pain off work since dec.7 /o8 found injury in march 2008 and kept working until dec. before dr. put me off for good due to sickness. any info will be appreciated.
If you are undergoing a thoracic discectomy and fusion, you could return to light duties (sitting at a desk) in four weeks. You could return to full duties in three months, but the surgeon might want a scan beforehand to be sure the spine is fusing well.
Good luck!
i tink he hurted himself during the perf!

I have been battling pain in my lower back and my whole back even went numb while I was walking the other day.
The last few months, the area right in the center of my low back itches constantly. It is not dry skin or anything skin related. I would like to know if any disorders of the spine or back muscles would cause this?
If anyone has experienced this or diagnosed this, I would appreciate the information.
Thanks!
this could very well be due to disc trouble as all your nerves go through the spinal cord, so any injury? could cause various sensations to be affected best to ask your doctor before it gets to badly

i was in an auto accident over a year ago. i hit the brake so hard i broke my right foot. month after month my pain became worse in all sorts of areas. the worst being my low back/tailbone area. recently an MRI showed i have a herniated disc in the lumbar/sacral area. i’m wondering if the impact of my foot hitting the break could have also caused my disc to rupture/herniate? i don’t follow up with my dr. for a couple of weeks and i was just wondering if anyone has any knowledge they could share with me. thank you for your time.
A herniated disc can absolutely be caused by an injury. They’re more often due to repetitive stress or degeneration but can also be caused by trauma/injury. Recent auto accidents are common amongst patients who are found to have herniated discs. It has to be a significant trauma to herniate a disc, due to all the surrounding bone and ligaments/muscle, but it can and does happen.
neurologist would not take chiropracter as referring physician and when I later asked for records from chiropracter they were stolen from his office.
A chiropracter is not a lisenced Medical Doctor in Canada. That is why they are not able to refer. Ask your family doctor to request your file from the chiro. Or wait till you get your neurologist’s appt. I’m certain they where not stolen for your own and everyone’s privacy health records & files are best transferred between health professionals. That way your health info is kept private. Which is a good thing. Secondly why to you think the chiro made things worse.A chiro is trained for 4 yrs and don’t cause harm. You should start from fresh, go to a family doctor & get some ex-rays then follow up one step @ a time.Until you know EXAXTLY what’s going on, start with a Good REGULAR same family Doctor & find out what is wrong. Good luck
